Bequests

Leaving a lasting gift

Did you know that nearly half of all New Zealanders have not made a Will or have not kept their Will current? When a person dies without leaving a clear Will, the family left behind experiences a great deal of confusion and stress at an already difficult and emotional time.

As members, supporters and volunteers of the Foundation you are already aware of how important donations are in funding Foundation services. However, you may not know that around 50 percent of these donations come from bequests from people who have included the Foundation in their Will. Their generosity enables us to continue to serve blind, deafblind and vision-impaired New Zealanders.

Including the Foundation in your Will can make all the difference. You can make provision to use your gift in special ways if you wish, or simply allow us the freedom to place the gift where it will do the most good. You may of course wish to consider establishing an Endowment Trust or "Living Will" where you can make a gift to us now and see the difference you have made, within your lifetime.

Gifts can be anonymous or acknowledged publicly by the Foundation, depending on your preference.

Quotes from bequestors

"We take things day by day at our age but we rest happy that, whatever happens, whatever we have left will be put to the best possible use".

"It is important knowing the Foundation works to make our quality of life the best it can be. The Foundation is there for me and I would like to assist the Foundation to continue its essential work after my lifetime."
