SEYFF
The last weekend in June SEYFF held its Techno Workshop which looked at a range of topics surrounding music and the music industry. This included a visit to the Nui FM radio station where Foundation members got to record a radio advertisement for Nui FM. One of the attendees was even offered the opportunity to record future ads for the radio station. The workshop also included a visit to Foundation member Alan Witana's home recording studio where the group recorded a small music CD.
The dance workshop was held in July and participants learnt dances such as the Cha-cha and the New Yorker.
The next big event is the SEYFF camp which will be held in Turangi from 22-25 September. The focus for the camp is "Dare to Dream" and they are currently looking for people to attend. To find out more about this and other SEYFF events coming up, or to join the email group, contact Donna on 09 355 6917 or email admin@seyff.co.nz.

Car Rally for the Blind
The annual Wellington district car rally for the blind is on Sunday 8 October. It will again be based at the Whitford Brown Centre in Titahi Bay and supported by the Henderson Fund and the Lions Clubs of Titahi Bay and Johnsonville. During the day vision-impaired people act as navigators following a tactile map and give instructions to the driver. The day involves morning tea, lunch, prize giving and a good time all round. Participants are picked up from home at 9.30am and returned by 3pm. For more information or to register please contact the Wellington, Kapiti, Mana District, Lower Hutt or Upper Hutt Community Committees.
Blind Sport
Five talented and inspirational young blind and vision-impaired New Zealanders have just returned after competing in the US Association of Blind Athletes National Summer Sports Festival in Colorado. Selected by Blind Sport New Zealand following their successes in the Southern Cross Games held in Auckland earlier in the year, the group also had the opportunity to compete against their sighted peers in the Rocky Mountain State Games which brings together 29 sports and over 6000 participants.
The Kiwi kids, all aged 13-14 years old, are: Mary Fisher (Upper Hutt), swimming; Daniel Holt (Albany), swimming; Lucy McLeod (Wellington), athletics; Cameron Laken (Hastings) athletics; and Hamish Tahana,

(Napier) athletics.
The "fab five" brought home a total of nine medals, one gold, four silver and four bronze, and many personal bests. New friendships were made and the team had a fantastic time. Congratulations to everyone involved.
Blind Sailing
The International Federation of Disabled Sailing World Blind Sailing Championships are being held in Newport, Rhode Island from 20-29 September. The New Zealand Blind Sailing team is a full NZ representative team accredited by Yachting New Zealand. Six Foundation members are in the team heading over on 14 September to take on countries from around the world. The Royal NZ Yacht Squadron is the sponsoring club. Good luck to all those involved!
NZ View
NZ View's first face-to-face meeting of 2006 was the Delegates/Executive meeting held in Rotorua from 27-28 May. Thirteen members attended from all over the North Island. Some matters of discussion included: the possibility of new branches, remits for its AGM and viewing of the new coins. We also enjoyed an inspirational talk by Carole Chapman, a Foundation member of NZ VIEW. The Biennial Conference/AGM was held in Wellington on 12/13 August 2006 attended by 17 members from around the North Island.
