Publications

The RNZFB's publications aim to provide information about blindness, different eye conditions and how to interact with blind, deafblind and vision-impaired people.

There are brochures about adaptive technology, guide dogs, working with blind and vision-impaired people, and braille – to name a few.

A series of booklets on the main eye conditions (symptoms and treatment) plus a range of factsheets in English, Māori and Pacific languages are also available.

Member magazine Outlook contains news, views and profiles from the blindness community, and the RNZFB's Annual Report has not only the financials of the organisation but also shows its achievements, success stories and developments.

Adaptive Technology = Access to information and greater independence is one of the latest brochures produced by the RNZFB. Read about how new technologies, equipment, simple modifications and website accessibility is helping RNZFB members achieve independence.

There is a wide range of other brochures available including information about guide dogs and the white cane.

Outlook Magazine

Outlook is the RNZFB's members magazine and is available in large print, audio, braille and electronic formats. Autumn 2009 is the latest edition. This edition pays homage to Louis Braille, since 2009 marks the 200th anniversary of his birth. You can find out how Louis Braille, as a teenager, came up with this system for reading; read about what braille means to blind New Zealanders; and find out how braille is made. Outlook is also packed with other news, updates and profiles.

The RNZFB's annual reports feature not only the financials but highlights from the year, an overview of the essential services we provide, achievements from the year as well as areas where we hope to improve.

Our 2007-2008 Annual Report is now available in a range of formats.

Reports and plans

Every year, the RNZFB produces an annual business plan setting down operational objectives for the organisation. Up to 2006, the Foundation also produced a three year "bigger picture" strategic plan.   In 2007 the Board determined that a longer term strategic plan was needed.  A draft Strategio Plan 2009-2015 has been developed.  Access current and previous business and strategic plans.
