Rest in Peace, Sir Ed

RNZFB members, staff, volunteers, guide dogs and guide dog puppies bid Sir Edmund Hillary farewell as his funeral cortege passes in front of the Foundation's Auckland office. Sir Ed's long-time support of the Foundation was typical of his down to earth and practical philosophy. He provided us with sketches and autographed $5 notes which were important in our fundraising activities. Sir Ed and Lady Hillary named three guide dog puppies, including Yanche (pronounced yun-gee, which is a common female Sherpa name). Yanche is the black labrador pup standing third from the left in this photo. Rest in peace, Sir Ed.
