Oppenheim Tertiary Education Trust
The purpose of the Trust is to provide assistance to vision-impaired people who are presently undergoing or are about to enter tertiary education. Due to the high level of requests priority will be given to school leavers.
This Trust was founded by Dr and Mrs Oppenheim in November 1989. They recognised the particular problems faced by tertiary students where assistance is minimal compared to the State funded primary and secondary education support systems. The Trust defines tertiary education as courses of study leading to a degree or recognised vocational qualification.
Applications are now invited from registered members of the Foundation. The closing date for applications is the 15th January 2007 with disbursements to successful applicants early February 2007. Grants will not be provided for any purposes where State funding is available and is clearly the mandate of Government or agencies nor will applications for travel or accommodation assistance qualify. Applications should be addressed to the Oppenheim Trust, Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind, P.O. Box 27-177, Wellington.
