Transport Authority (ARTA) are being held at Jubilee Buildings, 545

Rebuilding Newmarket station and junction is a critical part of Project
DART, the Government's $600 million upgrade of the Auckland rail
network which, when completed will deliver a rail network capable of
more frequent and reliable commuter services for Aucklanders.
Auckland's second busiest station after Britomart, Newmarket is located at the junction of three rail routes. Its current layout creates a bottleneck on the network, preventing more frequent services.
A major re-design of the track layout is planned to give the flexibility needed for a wide range of service options and ensure trains keep running smoothly through this busy part of the network well into the future. The new station will have twin island platforms and improved access to Broadway, Remuera Rd and Broadway Park.
Work on the redevelopment will start later this year. Anyone who uses the train, lives or works in Newmarket is encouraged to attend as the construction work is likely to affect them. Key impacts will include:
- Temporary stations at Kingdon St for Western line passengers and south of Remuera Rd for Southern line passengers for the duration of the project
- The closure of Kingdon St to vehicle traffic for the duration of the project
- Probable rebuilding of Khyber Pass, Park Rd and Remuera Rd rail overbridges
- The historic Newmarket station building and signal box need to be moved to allow for construction. The buildings will be preserved and options for their future are being reviewed.
