Technology that makes perfect sense

Review of Braille Sense Plus by RNZFB member and volunteer, David Allen.

My day begins with the alarm on my Braille Sense Plus - the start of a busy day. I check my appointments, which can now include meeting agendas and advance reminders.

In my work I receive many emails about technical equipment problems that require a quick resolution, so the web browser and the calculator in the Braille Sense Plus are vital. With email and the web browser I can participate regularly on Facebook and Twitter. The Bluetooth Manager provides seamless connections with my headset or my mobile phone, which functions as a modem.

My Braille Sense Plus also allows me to read Microsoft Word, text and formatted braille documents. And, I can choose any combination of speech or braille output that I require. When reading a lengthy document, I may prefer speech output, whereas smaller documents are available in clear, crisp braille under my fingertips.

With my day's work complete, I can enjoy the latest book from the RNZFB library. Thanks to the Sleep Timer I don't need to worry about drifting off and losing my place!

This combination of convenience, capability and accessibility makes perfect sense to me!
