Disability policy announcements from Labour and the Green Party

The Labour Party has announced its disability policy, which places a key focus on consultation with disabled people and implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The full Labour Disability policy (PDF) is available on Labour's website.

This week, the Green Party announced a plan to make elections more accessible. The Greens' accessible elections plan covers four key areas:

  • Making election information more accessible (including braille and accessible websites).
  • Making polling places accessible.
  • Guaranteeing the right to independent voting, including for those who are currently unable to vote without a support person, and
  • Making Parliament itself more inclusive.
