Auckland Transport October ticket changes
As you will know if you use the trains in Auckland regularly, changes are happening to the way you pay for travel.
On board ticket sales will cease at the end of the year and will be replaced by the new integrated fare system. The new integrated fare system means you will be able to pay for your train fares with an AT HOP card or purchase single trip paper tickets from Ticket & Top-Up machines.
Free AT HOP card
AT HOP cards will be available from late October 2012. The AT HOP card itself will be free for RNZFB members and travel will be at the usual concession fare. To be eligible for a free AT HOP card you will need to have a Total Mobility card or an RNZFB card.
Applying for your free AT HOP card:
From 27 October 2012 you can apply for your free AT HOP card.
You can make your application for a free AT HOP card in person at Ticket Offices in Britomart, Newmarket and New Lynn train stations. You can also apply by calling the AT contact centre on 09 366 4467 or by downloading an application form from www.ATHOP.co.nz and free posting it to Auckland Transport.
Once your application is processed, your AT HOP card will be posted to the address you provide on the application form. The entire process can take up to 10 working days.
Accessible payment options
The RNZFB and Auckland Transport are working hard to ensure that payment methods for travel are accessible and we will keep you posted of upcoming developments. The ticket and top up machines that have recently been installed at all train stations will be made accessible in 2013 and in the meantime there will be options available for payment over the phone, online and at Ticket Offices.
