Types of membership

All members, or parents and guardians of children who are members, are able to take part in shaping the direction of the RNZFB through its governance.

Governing members

Governing members can elect the Board of Directors, attend annual and special meetings and consult on important documents such as the strategic plan.

Associate members

Family, relations and friends of RNZFB members, as well as volunteers and supporters, have the opportunity to become involved in the organisation as Associate members.

Associate members are able to nominate a person as a candidate for election to the our Board of Directors, and vote for the candidates for that seat. The other Directors are elected by our membership.

Associate members are also able to:

  • Take part in stakeholder consultations.
  • Participate in their local Community Committee.
  • Become a volunteer to assist blind and partially sighted people in the community.
  • Support fundraising initiatives, including appeals.

 

Associate members are people not eligible for RNZFB services.
