Introduction
This handy reference guide gives you information to empower yourself in many common situations where you may face unlawful discrimination or lack of information about your rights.
The information contained here is for general use, to support you in an active and engaged lifestyle within your community. It doesn't cover every aspect of the law. You should consult a lawyer or legal advocate if in doubt.
Each section summarises your legal rights and first points of contact for resources. There's a full list of laws we refer to in the appendix and contact details for a number of organisations that offer advocacy and further information.
The guide is also available from the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind in audio, braille, and by email.
