Audio
Each year we record over 100 books and pamphlets, many of which are New Zealand publications that cannot be sourced overseas.
Around 20 weekly, monthly or quarterly magazines are also recorded, including NZ Woman's Weekly, Listener, National Business Review, and New Zealand Geographic.
The Foundation has three high-quality recording studios on the Parnell site. The narrator, usually a professional actor, sits in the studio behind a glass screen, while the producer/audio engineer sits in the control room producing, recording and editing the book.
All books are recorded electronically in digital format and structured as DAISY books. The production files can then be used to create either a master cassette, a master CD or files suitable for download.
Find out about the Cassette to Digital project, which is changing the way audio books are produced and distributed.
Find out about other accessible formats including braille, large print and e-text.
