There is no government funding for guide dogs. It can take over two years and cost more than $22,500 to breed, raise, train and match a guide dog. The RNZFB has many individuals, groups, businesses, trusts and foundations that take the opportunity to sponsor the training and matching of a guide dog.

As a major donor you receive a framed puppy photo and graduation photo of your sponsored dog. Those who contribute $12,000 or more towards a guide dog's training get the opportunity to name the dog they are sponsoring.
