Strategic Drivers
These strategic drivers represent the priorities of the RNZFB Board for the planning period 2007-2010.
In recognising that planning for the future requires flexibility, the Board will focus the direction of the Foundation on achievement of the following outcomes over the planning period. The goals and objectives listed in the strategic plan will be driven by these ten priorities.
-
Life Skills Development: While opportunities exist for all to learn new skills, younger members and those of working age are endowed with a range of specialised blindness skills and positive attitudes to equip them to face a lifetime with vision-impairment.
- Adapting to Sight Loss: Older members are receiving basic skills training to support them in their homes and communities and to minimise the effects of vision loss.
- Widening the Help Available: Additional volunteers, members and other service providers are trained and organised to support members to deal with their vision-impairment.
- Strategic Alliances: The Foundation has made referrals to alternative providers and is satisfied that standards of service have not been compromised.
- Keeping Abreast of Technological Developments: In this planning period the focus is directed towards ensuring that a new way of distributing and playing talking books has been developed and funded, and is being used and accepted by members.
- Effective Lobbying: Advocacy to government to support blindness-related services and issues has yielded positive results.
- A Good Employer: The Foundation is recognised as a good employer and its operations reflect accepted best practice.
- A Standard Setter: The Foundation is recognised as an exemplar of blindness-related service provision and delivery.
- Effective Infrastructure: The Foundation’s operational structure and funding is in keeping with the directional thrust and demands of the organisation.
- Reflecting the Profile of the Community: The Foundation fully reflects and is responsive to the changing nature of the New Zealand population and the demographics of sight loss.
