Every day businesses, organisations, people in the community and trusts are making a difference in the lives of blind, deafblind and vision-impaired New Zealanders. The RNZFB just couldn't provide essential rehabilitation and support services to its members without this support.
A big thank-you to everyone who supports the RNZFB, but a special thanks to -
Bayleys
It costs over $22,500 to breed, raise, train and match just one guide dog to a blind, deafblind or vision-impaired person. With guide dogs receiving no government funding, the RNZFB is proud to have Bayleys Realty Group as the principal sponsor for Guide Dog Services.
Having signed the second, three-year agreement, Bayleys (and their
energetic staff around the country!) are committed to raise the amount
need to train 100 new much-needed guide dogs. Since 2004 Bayleys have
so far raised over $1.4 million, that's 62 new guide dogs!
Vodafone
Being able to learn how to use adaptive technology is no-longer only available to those who live in, or can travel to, the main centres. A three-year, $800,000 relationship with the Vodafone New Zealand Foundation is helping to deliver technology and training around the country.
The new Mobile Adaptive Technology Training Unit (MATTU) is taking the training out of the classroom and into local communities. Without the financial support of the Vodafone NZ Foundation, the RNZFB would not be able to deliver adaptive technology training on this scale.
The Lion Foundation
The RNZFB provides essential services to its 11,700 members at a cost of over $22 million each year. With only one-third covered by government contracts, financial support from trusts like the Lion Foundation are vital.
This support means the RNZFB can enable blind, deafblind and vision-impaired people live full and independent live – having the same freedom, choices and experiences as fully sighted people.
Since 1997 the RNZFB has received over $2.2 million from the Lion
Foundation.
NZ Community Trust
Kiwis love their sport and the blind community is no different. With help from NZCT (New Zealand Community Trust), blind, deafblind and vision-impaired athletes and sports teams are able to continue enjoying sport as well as compete nationally and internationally.
But is not only sport that NZCT are passionate about. NZCT also support the RNZFB and its members in other activities and have granted nearly $600,000 since 1997.
Pub Charity Inc
Many RNZFB projects, events or activities have only been made possible through grants from Pub Charity Inc. At both a national and local level, RNZFB members would miss out on everyday activities or once-in-a-lifetime experiences if it wasn't for the support of organisations like Pub Charity Inc.
Since 2006 the RNZFB has received over $410,000.
