2.0 Interpretation

2.1 Definitions

In this Constitution:

2.1.1 "Associate Member" means a member of the membership class created by Rule 5.1.2;

2.1.2 "this Constitution" means this constitution, as altered from time to time;

2.1.3 "Custodial Guardian" means a Full Member:

2.1.3.1 Who, at the time of and for the purposes of his or her admission as a Full Member, established (pursuant to Rule 5.3) that he or she was eligible for membership under Rule 5.2.2.2; or

2.1.3.2 Who, at the time of and for the purposes of his or her admission as a Full Member, established (pursuant to Rule 5.3) only that he or she was eligible for Membership under Rule 5.2.2.1, but subsequently became registered as a Custodial Guardian under Rule 5.6.1;

2.1.3.3 Who became a Member pursuant to Section 12 (1)(b) of the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind Act 2002;

2.1.3.4 Who, became a Member pursuant to Section 12(1)(a) of the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind Act 2002 only, but subsequently became registered as a Custodial Guardian under Rule 5.6.1;

2.1.4 "Full Member" means a member of the membership class created by Rule 5.1.1;

2.1.5 "Member" means a Full Member or an Associate Member in terms of this Constitution, but does not include or refer to any person in the capacity of a provider or user of Foundation services and Membership has a corresponding meaning;

2.1.6 "prescribed" means prescribed by this Constitution or by regulations made by the Board pursuant to this Constitution;

2.1.7 "Working Day" means any day of the week other than:

2.1.7.1 Saturday, Sunday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, ANZAC Day, the Sovereign's Birthday, Labour Day and Waitangi Day; and

2.1.7.2 A day in the period commencing with 24 December in any year and ending with 5 January in the following year.

2.2 Construction

2.2.1 Where this Constitution assigns a defined meaning to any expression (whether in this Rule or elsewhere), that expression has that meaning throughout the Constitution (unless inconsistent with the context).

2.2.2 A reference in this Constitution to any statute or statutory provision that is amended (whether before or after the adoption of this Constitution), re-enacted or consolidated, shall be read as a reference to the statute or statutory provision as amended, re-enacted or consolidated (as the case requires).

2.2.3 Headings, sub-headings and parenthetical descriptions of cross-referenced Rules or Sub-Rules are inserted only for ease of reference and do not affect the interpretation of this Constitution.

2.2.4 Except where the context otherwise requires, references to Sections, Rules and Sub-Rules are to Sections, Rules and Sub-Rules in this Constitution.

2.2.5 In this constitution, unless the context otherwise requires, the singular includes the plural and vice-versa and one gender includes the other gender.
