RNZFB Constitution
In 2003 the ability to elect the Board directly was put into the hands of the Foundation's blind, deafblind and vision-impaired members.
Their quest for self-determination led to the adoption of a new Constitution for the RNZFB.
A name change from "Foundation FOR the Blind" to "OF the Blind" indicated an important change in the governance of the RNZFB. The new Constitution was specifically created by the RNZFB and can be changed by members rather than by Parliament.
The Constitution gives the organisation's supporters even greater confidence in its structure and direction.
Donors, volunteers and other supporters are able to know that the elected Directors are accountable to the blind and vision-impaired of New Zealand for their choices about where donor money is spent.
The RNZFB's Constitution provides for the establishment and function of the Board, the election of Directors, financial and information reporting, different types of membership and voting.
