On your marks and get set for Round the Bays

Auckland’s Round the Bays is this weekend, so it’s time to get prepared.

We’d like to sincerely thank all those who have chosen to join our team – it’s going to be a great opportunity to step up for sight together!

For those of you who are taking part in the RNZFB team, by now you should have registered to fundraise on www.stepupforsight.org.nz. The latest you can do this is by the end of the day today (Wednesday 9 March), as we’ll need to send you your t-shirt and cap to wear on the day.

If you have registered and have not yet received your pack, please contact Deirdre Yee on 09 355 6888.

You should have also signed up as a participant for Round the Bays at www.roundthebays.co.nz, paid your $15 entry fee and received your number.

The plan for race day

We’re planning to meet up as a team prior to the race so that we can approach the starting point together. The meeting location is outside the ferry terminal on Quay Street at 8.15am. Please don’t be late as we will need to depart on time. As the downtown area is likely to be congested, we would suggest aiming to be there well ahead of time. If you have any problems finding our team simply call Lyn Thomas on 0274 322 994.

Please also ensure that you are wearing your RNZFB cap and t-shirt, as well as your race number and plenty of sun block.

If you are blind or partially sighted and do not have a guide for the day, please let Jon Scott, RNZFB Recreation Advisor know by calling 09 355 6886.

For those wanting to cheer our team on, our cheer point is on the corner of Auckland Road, Tamaki Drive and Long Road (a three-way intersection).

The meeting point for after the race is at Glover Park at site GM11, and a barbeque and cold juice will be waiting for all participants!

We’ll see you on Sunday for a fantastic morning running and walking together, and will be in touch next week with an update on how much we’ve raised.
