International mobility conference
13 February 2012
More than 100 presentations are being made and guests from all over the world are in Palmerston North as Massey University hosts a conference about blindness and mobility.
This is the first time the International Mobility Conference has been held in New Zealand, giving RNZFB staff a great opportunity to network and share knowledge with others in the field.
The theme for IMC14 is "Mobility through the Ages: Up Over and Down Under". As such, the conference will feature the newest in trends, practices and information related to the acquisition of independent travel for children, adults and older adults.
Among the key note speakers is scientist, inventor and 2010 New Zealander of the Year, Sir Ray Avery. By the year 2020, 30 million people are expected to have benefitted from Sir Ray's development of intraocular lenses implanted into the eyes of those with cataracts.
