Māori services
RNZFB and Ngāti Kāpō
The RNZFB works with Ngāti Kāpō O Aotearoa Inc (Ngāti Kāpō) to focus on access and engagement by kāpō Māori to RNZFB services.
The relationship with Ngāti Kāpō ensures that Māori members receive a timely, focused and culturally appropriate service from the RNZFB, as we continue to focus on providing essential blindness rehabilitation skills to kāpō Māori.
Ngāti Kāpō is a kaupapa Māori national provider of health and disabilities services based upon Māori philosophies, principles and practices. Ngāti Kāpō has an established reputation in not only the blindness community but also the disability community, able bodied community, and with Māori, Non Māori and Government.
Ngāti Kāpō began formally working with the RNZFB in February 2012, replacing the RNZFB's Mana Kāpō Aronga service.
