Client Services Committee

The Client Services Committee (CSC) ensures services remain consistent with the needs of our clients and the expectations of the blind community. It receives feedback from clients about their service experience, and brings this client voice to the table.

In particular the CSC focuses on continuous improvement by adopting high standards, evaluating the effectiveness of our services, supporting staff learning and development, and applying innovative ideas.

The CSC is comprised of:

  • Executive Director Access, Innovation & Enterprise

Carol Groom

Originally from the UK, Carol was Vice Chair of the Kent Association of the Blind. A graduate of the Royal National Institute for the Blind Physiotherapy School in London, she has worked in various physiotherapy roles both in the UK and South Africa.  Carol was diagnosed with Congenital Macular Dystrophy as a young child. After her 2 children moved to New Zealand, she and her husband decided to follow in 2009 and Carol has been a member of the RNZFB ever since.

Sarndra holds a Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Counselling. She is a mother of 3 and of Ngati Porou/Ngati Awa descent, born and raised in the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Sarndra has been a member of the RNZFB since 2003 and is the face of our See the Difference sponsorship programme launched in 2009. Her eye condition is retinopathy due to lack of compliance that developed into health complications from diabetes.

Carolyn was awarded the Queen’s Service Medal for work with the disability community in 1995.  She is the mother of 2 boys and is originally from Dunedin. Carolyn has served on a number of local and national committees and Boards in the health, disability and education sectors from 1980 to the present, including 2 terms as a RNZFB Board of Director. She is a guide dog handler and has had Osteoporosis Pseudoglioma Syndrome since birth.
